Data Governance Business Lead

Position Summary:

Our client is at a critical juncture operating as a newly independent company. To support growth strategy, the Finance organization is undergoing a “Finance Transformation” which will enable the company to scale & support next generation products & services. In alignment with the strategy, we are looking for a Business Lead/ Portfolio Manager who will partner with Directory of Finance, Stakeholders, Business and Higher Management and take on a lead role in transforming Data Governance & Operations.

This consultant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Customer Focused - Finance Data initiatives which can include defining opportunities, prioritizing, confirming approach, driving & executing. To thrive in this role, resource will have a combination of top-notch program management experience - to pull all the right players together and be a DRIVER to executive initiative end to end. This consultant is business & data savvy and understands Finance – Data Governance inside and out and is also familiar with Order to Cash / Quote to Cash. They’d need to be able to interact with all levels of management but can also roll up their sleeves and drive execution across various business partners.

As the senior Business Lead in a high profile, high-performance, fast-paced team, this role provides great perspective and exposure in leading key Data initiatives within Finance Transformation. 

Responsibilities:

• Drive major data governance initiatives
• Be the key advisor to our sponsor on DG best practices, DG prioritization/investments as well as organizational alignment to ensure both the strategic and operation teams are setup to support the business needs & scale.  
• Partner with our sponsor to synthesize, develop executive management/CFO/board level decks readouts. 
• Partner with the major internal partners including Finance IT to drive the portfolio of initiatives
• Direct/lead the Data Governance team to execute in alignment with client strategy and roadmap
• Partner with stakeholders identify data quality/governance opportunities
• Devise a sustainable data strategy that will enable a solid data structure and framework while having high data-quality as one of the foremost priorities, through effective interaction with internal finance teams and IT
• Develop business case & core requirements to drive prioritization activities and develop executive level presentations to communicate approach – opportunities, prioritization, impact, and approach to drive necessary change across systems, policy, data, and process.
• Define, Develop and Drive Finance Data Governance/Quality initiatives from the ground up. Help them scale, and develop appropriate frameworks to ensure controls & governance are in place
• Be a core finance team member to define and document key finance processes (Order to Cash, Sales Compensation/Commissions, Bookings, Revenue, Commissions, Channel Partner/Rebates)
• Be a single point of contact to leadership and provide subject matter expertise and industry best practices related bookings governance and reporting.  
• Focus areas will revolve around: ownership, accuracy, visibility, priority, and governance
• Define best practices, innovate on processes, and evangelize across the team and organization
• Identify root-cause analysis of data issues and identification of solutions for issues
• Maintain reporting cadence for overall track status to management and executive team, peers, and other finance stakeholders on a consistent basis
• Support with delivery & change management Reqs: Comms, Training, Adoption
• Develop and deliver executive level presentations on defined business cases and analysis on new potential business opportunities
• Stakeholder management and ability to communicate with multi-tier cross-functional teams, get their buy-in, and implement initiatives across the board

Requirements

Core Skills:

 

• 8+ years of experience in Finance: 8+ years of experience with data governance & Master Data management
• Familiarity with Order to Cash/Quote to Cash and service entitlements at a software company
• Experience with defining, documenting, developing business process (within Finance a plus)
• Experience with BI reporting tools including OBIEE; EssBase a plus
• High energy, strong analytical thinker with strong Finance background
• Strong Program Management experience building and driving initiatives
• Have a ‘Driver’ personality with a proactive, ambitious and ‘get things done’ attitude
• Critical thinker and process oriented expert with ability to analyze data. 
• Ability to influence & collaborate at all levels
• Ability to navigate & operate through ambiguity
• Experience & proven ability in planning and implementing large complex projects
• Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision
• Develop & Deliver Executive level presentations articulating analysis, potential options, & recommendations 
• Ability to prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment

 

Education: BA (Finance, Information Systems) or BS required, MBA preferred
